2012 Season Underway

Our RVC teams get into action this weekend starting with 15UW and 16UW tournaments. Good luck to our 15U teams heading to Moose Jaw - Ace and Cyclones; and to our 16U teams in Saskatoon - Impact and Flames. Many of our teams also take advantage of our RVC club structure by taking part in scrimmages with other RVC teams as tuneups before competitions. Don't hesitate to contact another team that you'd like to scrimmage with. (Check out a few pictures from our RVC Intraclub Tournament in December)

Atomic Developmental Program - Next Session in January 2012

Our very popular Atomic developmental program returns in the new year. The program will run for 8 weeks on Sundays, Jan 8 - Feb 26, 2012.  Session 1 (11:00 - 12:00 pm) is for 8 - 10 yr olds with little or no experience. Session 2 (12:00 - 1:00 pm) is for 10 - 12 yr olds or for those who have completed Level 1.

The RVC developmental program is based on the Atomic national curriculum developed for those aged 8 - 12. Athletes use lighter balls, lower nets and smaller sized courts to learn and practice the skills needed in volleyball. The emphasis is placed on FUNdamentals and participation. Click here for more information.

Youth Rec - Great Way to have Fun

Our popular Youth Rec program returns for another session in January 2012. It provides those elementary athletes, who have some volleyball experience, a chance to get together once a week to practice their skills and then to relax and have fun playing volleyball with their friends. The program will run for 2 hours once a week for 4 weeks . If you know someone in Grade 8 or 7 (or 6)...Tell them about this. The program is now full.

Congrats to all those who were selected to an RVC team for 2012!

Thank you to all those who came out to our competitive team selection camps. Coaches will be calling you by phone about your placement. If you don't hear from RVC by Tuesday night, please contact us.

Coaches will be advising you about your 2012 practice schedule and your season plan - and mark your calendars now for our RVC Intraclub Tournament Sunday, December 11. This tournament is a fun event where teams get to know each other a little better while scrimmaging against other RVC teams.

RVC families are encouraged to get involved. Ask how you can help your team (each team needs some parent managers...) - AND don't hesitate to ask questions and provide feedback to your coach and to the RVC club executive throughout the season.

If you missed our tryouts, there are a limited number of spots still available on a couple of teams. Contact us if you are interested in joining RVC.

RVC supports our Cougars

RVC is proud to support our men's and women's volleyball teams at the Univ. of Regina...and grateful for the support of U of R head coach Greg Barthel with our RVC men's program. Go to the U of R website for more info about these teams and make a point to attending a game and watching some great volleyball. Next home action: U of Manitoba Jan 13 & 14.

Support Your School

Congratulations to all our RVC athletes who are competing on their school teams - and special kudos to our RVC coaches who pull double duty working with their schools and our club. Make it a point to get out to watch some of the great volleyball in our city. [RHSAA schedule]

Be a Leader! Coaches & Volunteers Needed

If you love the game of Volleyball and are passionate about being involved in the development of great young people, we would love to hear from you! RVC is looking for a few good people to join our club to help with our developmental and recreational programs - and with our age-class competitive program.  If you - or someone you know - may be interested, please contact our Coach Liaison Maureen Sebastian for more information. All training is provided...and there are a number of commitment levels to fit your schedule.

And of course, we couldn't do it without the many volunteers who contribute their time and effort to benefit everyone - from project coordinators to team managers.  Come join the fun!

"Volunteers do not necessarily have the time - they just have the heart."

RVC Awards Night & Annual General Meeting

RVC held its annual Awards Night and Annual General Meeting on May 26th giving an opportunity for all our age-class teams to recognize their all-stars and celebrate their successes over the past season. Unlike other clubs, RVC is member-driven and our membership takes this opportunity to approve audited financial statements, elect our board of directors and have the open forum to ask questions and provide comments. Congratulations to coaching award winners: Calvin Toffan - Coach of the Year and retiring board member, Barry Leibel who was presented with the Chris Nicholson Memorial Award. Stay tuned for more pictures...

Volleyball Officials - Info and Reference

There's nothing like having officials working a match that are knowledgeable and decisive...and RVC parents are among the best. As a parent, it's great to get involved - at court level - with your player's match. It's fun and not hard - plan now to help out.

The SVA is always looking for people to become referees. Officials are an integral part of volleyball. And players - it's a great way to make some money - contact the SVA for more info.                  Minor Official Notes for Parents     Scoresheet (with notes)                 Former RVC coach, Jacques Delorme
