With the weather warming up and the sun shining more often - it's time to start thinking about the beach! The RVC Beach Program runs Tuesdays and Thursdays at 6:00 to 8:00 pm starting June 5th at the U of R beach courts. The program is led by Brody Waddell, head coach of the 2011 Western Canada Summer Games Team Sask men's program. Brody was a member of the 2009 Canada Summer Games team and a member of the U of R Cougars for 5 years. Click here to register or for more info.
Get the edge on your competition just in time for the fall school volleyball season or get a jump start for your club team. RVC is holding the Players Edge Volleyball Camp on August 28, 29 & 30 (Tues, Wed, Thurs) for girls going into Grades 7 to 12. The sessions run from 6:00 - 9:00 pm at Laval school and the main focus will be on skill development. Athletes will be led by nationally certified coaches and will work on building on their strengths and improving weaknesses in order to execute superior techniques while playing volleyball. As the athletes will be grouped by skill level, every player will receive instruction that will get them advancing as quickly as possible. Click here for more info and to register.
RVC is holding its annual Awards Night and Annual General Meeting on May 24th at the Glen Cairn Rec Centre - 7:00 pm. This gives an opportunity for all our age-class teams to recognize their all-stars and celebrate their successes over the past season. Unlike some other clubs, RVC is member-driven and our membership takes this opportunity to approve audited financial statements, elect our board of directors and have the open forum to ask questions and provide comments. All players, coaches and parents are encouraged to attend.

U18 RVC stand out Evan Mah was featured in a Leader Post article May 9, 2012. Evan has been playing with RVC since he was a 14U player. Evan has since demonstrated not only his abilities on the court but his leadership skills and his commitment to excellence and to our community. Our 18U Cougar team is off to Toronto for nationals and we wish Evan and his team well there. You can go to the Leader Post for the full article and to see the full photo by Michael Bell.
RVC Impact player Katie Nelson was featured in the Regina Leader Post on May 1, 2012. Katie started with RVC a few years ago as a 14U player, starting competing with her high school team - and was the starting middle blocker with the 16U Sask Volleyball provincial team in 2011. Katie, along with many RVC players, juggle their love for more sports than just volleyball. Impact will be off to Toronto later this month along with a couple other RVC teams to compete at the Volleyball Canada national championships. Check out the LP article and a great picture of Katie by Don Healy.
RVC could not serve our players and their families like we do without the contribution of volunteer coaches, team managers and our program coordinators and board directors. We are currently looking for people who can give even a little time to help our club do what it does. Many hands make light work - so the more the merrier. RVC is not run by just one or two people - our members elect our board and in this way RVC remains responsive to the needs of our families and continues to thrive as the longest running volleyball club in the Regina district. Please contact RVC President Maureen Sebastian for more information.

RVC is proud to support our men's and women's volleyball teams at the Univ. of Regina...and grateful for the support of U of R head coach Greg Barthel with our RVC men's program. Go to the U of R website for more info about these teams and make a point to attending a game and watching some great volleyball.

RVC is looking for a few good people to join our club to help with our developmental and recreational programs - and with our age-class competitive program. All training is provided...and there are a number of commitment levels to fit your schedule.
There's nothing like having officials working a match that are knowledgeable and decisive...and RVC parents are among the best. As a parent, it's great to get involved - at court level - with your player's match. It's fun and not hard - plan now to help out.
The SVA is always looking for people to become referees. Officials are an integral part of volleyball. And players - it's a great way to make some money - contact the SVA for more info. Minor Official Notes for Parents Scoresheet (with notes) Former RVC coach, Jacques Delorme
