Our RVC teams get into action this weekend starting with 15UW and 16UW tournaments. Good luck to our 15U teams heading to Moose Jaw - Ace and
Cyclones; and to our 16U teams in Saskatoon - Impact and Flames. Many of our teams also take advantage of our RVC club structure by taking part in scrimmages with other RVC teams as tuneups before competitions. Don't hesitate to contact another team that you'd like to scrimmage with. (Check out a few pictures from our RVC Intraclub Tournament in December)

Our very popular Atomic developmental program returns in the new year. The program will run for 8 weeks on Sundays, Jan 8 - Feb 26, 2012. Session 1 (11:00 - 12:00 pm) is for 8 - 10 yr olds with little or no experience. Session 2 (12:00 - 1:00 pm) is for 10 - 12 yr olds or for those who have completed Level 1.
The RVC developmental program is based on the Atomic national curriculum developed for those aged 8 - 12. Athletes use lighter balls, lower nets and smaller sized courts to learn and practice the skills needed in volleyball. The emphasis is placed on FUNdamentals and participation. Click here for more information.
Our popular Youth Rec program returns for another session in January 2012. It provides those elementary athletes, who have some volleyball experience, a chance to get together once a week to practice their skills and then to relax and have fun playing volleyball with their friends. The program will run for 2 hours once a week for 4 weeks . If you know someone in Grade 8 or 7 (or 6)...Tell them about this. The program is now full.
RVC and our volunteer coaches are excited to again offer great opportunities in our competitive age-class volleyball program to athletes from the very elite to those just starting out. RVC is the longest continuously operating volleyball club in the Regina area for a reason. Our programs are second to none and have been adopted over the years by other newer clubs throughout the province. RVC operates as a non-profit organization governed by a board of directors elected by our members. We strive to provide support to our teams, our families and our coaches while allowing flexibility appropriate to each team's situation - we work hard to ensure that each member of our club has a good experience. We encourage you to ask questions and provide feedback - before tryouts, during and all through the season - and for those who may be new to RVC, we hope you take a look through this website to find out more about us.
Click for more information about our age-class program - Although our first round of tryouts occured on Oct 16 - there are still spots open and we hope to see you at our second team selection camp on Oct 23rd.

RVC is proud to support our men's and women's volleyball teams at the Univ. of Regina...and grateful for the support of U of R head coach Greg Barthel with our RVC men's program. Go to the U of R website for more info about these teams and make a point to attending a game and watching some great volleyball. Next home action: U of Manitoba Jan 13 & 14.

Congratulations to all our RVC athletes who are competing on their school teams - and special kudos to our RVC coaches who pull double duty working with their schools and our club. Make it a point to get out to watch some of the great volleyball in our city. [RHSAA schedule]
If you love the game of Volleyball and are passionate about being involved in the development of great young people, we would love to hear from you! RVC is looking for a few good people to join our club to help with our developmental and recreational programs - and with our age-class competitive program. If you - or someone you know - may be interested, please contact our Coach Liaison Maureen Sebastian for more information. All training is provided...and there are a number of commitment levels to fit your schedule.
All age-class team selection sessions will be held at Campbell Collegiate (102 Massey Rd) on:
Sunday, Oct 16 and Sunday, October 23
Each age-class will have 2 sessions starting at the same time on each day. Players do need to attend both sessions. (If an absence is unavoidable, please inform RVC). Ensure that you have registered online before coming to the first session (preferably by Oct 14th). When you arrive, report right away to the registration table. Please come a bit early to have time to register and get changed so you're ready on time for the session. Schedule below
Note to parents: We need a number of parents willing to help out by tossing balls during the tryout drills - nothing hard or complicated - if you can help out, please email Maureen with the time you'll be there - and bring your court shoes. Thank you in advance for volunteering.
Uniforms: Samples for uniform sizing will be available at tryouts. You MUST try on a uniform and confirm your size at that time. A full-line of optional RVC clothing will be available to players following team selections.
TIPS FOR TRYOUTS:
The following are the current coaching assignments for the 2012 competitive season. Not sure who they are? - Click on their names to find out more about them.
NOTE: Assignments (and the number of teams at any age division) may be changed right up to the team selection camps on Oct 16 & 23. You are strongly encouraged to talk with coaches at the selection camps (or beforehand if you see them around school games etc) - as we want this season to be a good fit for all involved.
There's alway room for more coaches! Please don't wait to be asked - contact us for more information about how you can get involved. RVC provides support for ongoing coaching development.
Get the edge on your competition just in time for the fall school volleyball season or get a jump start for your club team. RVC is holding the Players Edge Volleyball Camp on August 23, 24 & 25 (Tues, Wed, Thurs) for girls going into Grades 7 to 12. The sessions run from 6:00 - 9:00 pm at Laval school and the main focus will be on skill development. Athletes will be led by nationally certified coaches and will work on building on their strengths and improving weaknesses in order to execute superior techniques while playing volleyball. As the athletes will be grouped by skill level, every player will receive instruction that will get them advancing as quickly as possible. The camp is now full. Registration is now open for RVC's fall Youth Rec and Developmental Atomic programs.

With the weather warming up - it's beach volleyball season! The RVC Beach program runs Tuesdays and Thursdays at 6:00 to 8:00 pm from June 2 - 23 at the U of R beach courts.
