RVC has arranged a series of 'steak' nights with our friends at the 4 Seasons Restaurant to help our families raise funds to offset their RVC volleyball expenses this year. Tickets are available now for:
March 12 – Steak nights
March 18 – Chicken and Rib nights
Tickets are sold for $20 per plate.
Team managers /coaches or RVC members can Dennis Ruthven and tickets will be distributed accordingly. The seller will need to collect the $20.00 at point of sale and provide $10.00 to Dennis that goes to the restaurant - that means a $10 profit for each ticket sold to the seller to offset their volleyball expenses this year. The entire team does not have to be involved. If one parent wants to sell tickets on their own that is totally fine. This money doesn't go to the team, it goes to the individual person selling the tickets. There are a limited number of tickets each night so get out and sell them now.

A number of our RVC teams did some traveling this spring to compete against the best teams in Western Canada and beyond - gaining valuable experience and learning about where the bar is set for volleyball excellence. On May 14-17, our 17U and 18U men's Cougars teams, along with our 18UW Rebels team traveled to Abbottsford. Congrats to the 17U Cougars Gold team who won first place in Tier 4.
Then it was off to the Western Canadian 15U/16U nationals in Calgary. This event is the largest in Canada featuring about 250 teams from across Canada including the Territories. Our 15UM Cougars Gold team brought home silver medals from Division 1 Tier 4 and the 16UM Cougars tied for 5th in the tough Division 1 Tier 2. 15UW Ace wound up in Tier 2 in Division 2 with Cyclones competing in Tier 4 - and 16UW Impact ended up in 4th place in Div 2 Tier 3.
Our 14U teams (Voltage, Thunder and Cougars) competed at Volleyball Canada's Western Canadian Open Championships on May 7-9 in Saskatoon. Each team faced great competition from teams from BC, Alberta and Manitoba. It was a great tournament and a great season for all these young RVC athletes - and their coaches and parents.

Our RVC 18UM Cougars earned silver at the 2010 Provincials in Saskatoon April 24 & 25. Since there is no 17U division in the men's program - our 17UM teams Gold and Green met in the 18UM Tier 2 final with Gold taking the gold. Our 18UW team Rebels finished in the top 8 with RVC Quix ending up in Tier 2. RVC Havoc also finished in the top 8 in Tier 1 of the 17UW division. Congratulations to our friends at CVC Radz who won gold in both the 18UW and the 17UW divisions. Way to go Regina!
At Asics Cup 2 14UW Thunder started day one in a three-way tie for second in the round robin. The tie breaking system sent Thunder to playoff schedule 3. Thunder started day two on a high note winning its first match. The momentum carried Thunder through two more consecutive wins to eventually end up facing the 3rd place team from our round robin pool, Yorkton Attack Blitz. We played a spirited match that saw Thunder split sets with Blitz. Blitz finally prevailed 15/10 over Thunder in a hard fought 3rd set. Congratulations to Thunder on their success this weekend. Other AC2 results: RVC 14UW Voltage finished 2nd at this tournament. Our 15UM Cougars team won Bronze at the 16UM tournament in North Battleford - Way to Go! The 16UM RVC Panthers played in the Provincial Championships April 25/26 in Saskatoon taking the Prince Albert Smashing Bananas to three sets in a closely fought final match.
They started out defeating the first three teams in their pool quite easily against North Battleford Cobras White, Oxbow Black Knights and Moose Jaw Element to setup a first place show down with their Regina rivals, the Quest Matadors. Quest came out and played extremely well beating the Panthers in the first set 25-21. Not to be out done, the Panthers elevated their level of play considerably and ended up defeating the Matadors in the next two sets 25-15, 15-8 to place first in their pool.
15UM Force took bronze at the Saskatchewan provincial championships this past weekend, April 25 & 26. The boys defeated the always strong team of the Prince Albert Smashing Bananas in two sets to win their medals. 15UF RVC Cyclones lost a close three-set match to finish fourth in Tier 2.
Stay tuned for more results from provincials as we receive them (and pictures!)...and the upcoming 15U/16U nationals in Calgary May 16-18.
14UF Voltage took home Tier 2 silver medals at the Sask 14U provincials in Saskatoon on April 19. 14UM Slam did very well in pool play losing a close match in the quarter-finals. And 14UF Rush also started out strong finishing second in their pool and losing out to stiff competition in the Division 2 playoffs. Great job to all players and coaches - you put your heart into it during each match.
The 17U RVC Rebels, qualified for the top tier at this year's SVA provincial championships after knocking off one of the top teams in the province and then losing out in a close match to the eventual Provincial Champions, Wakaw Warriors, to place Tier 1 - 5th.
17UF Quix finished strong at provincials on April 5th taking silver in Tier 2 - losing to Meadow Lake in the finals. Quix head coach, Sam Fong said,"Our girls truly deserve every bit of recognition for their efforts and determination to win. I cannot be more proud of the girls."
